Abstract

This position paper examines Social Studies lecturers’ interest and attitudes toward the utilization of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Colleges of Education in Kogi State, Nigeria. Drawing on existing literature, it highlights the benefits of ICT integration, barriers to adoption, and factors influencing lecturers’ engagement. The paper situates findings within the Technology Acceptance Model and Diffusion of Innovation Theory frameworks, emphasizing the interplay of motivation, perception, and institutional support. Recommendations focus on infrastructure improvement, sustained professional development, incentives, and collaborative cultures to enhance ICT adoption for Social Studies pedagogy. This study underscores the necessity of aligning lecturers’ attitudes and interests with systemic support to optimize ICT use in teacher education.
