Abstract

The study examined the Effect of Teaching Resources on Business Studies Students’ Academic Performance at Upper Basic Schools in Edu Local Government of Kwara State.  The research design adopted for the study was descriptive research design. Two research questions were generated to guide the study. The population consists of 120 business studies teachers in selected public secondary schools. The instrument used for data collection was a self-structured questionnaire titled, Improvisation of Teaching Aids and Business Studies Teachers Questionnaire (ITABSTQ). The 15 item questionnaires were developed by the researcher to investigate the ingenuity of improvisation in teaching of Business Studies at Upper Basic Schools and validated. Two point’s scale of ‘Agree’ or ‘Disagree’ was used in the analysis. Data collected on the demographic features of the subjects were presented in contingency percentage tables and subsequently interpreted respectively. Other data generated from the respondent’s responses to the questionnaire items were used to analyze the research questions raised in the study using frequency count, the percentage and the average percentage since all the items are positive. Based on the findings, it was recommended that: There is the need for the development of positive attitudes by teachers towards the use of teaching resources for the students. This will encourage the development of their proficiency.  The cost of procuring instructional materials should not be too high so that many stakeholders will be able to afford.  Regular supply of teaching resources should be embarked on by the Governments at all levels.
