EDUCATION, AUTHORITY, AND CONTROL IN THE SCHOOL SYSTEM: PROBLEMS AND PROSPECT IN NIGERIA

Abstract

This paper examines the meaning of authority and control in the school as it affects the education system. It discusses the objectives of authority in the management of the school. The paper points out some problems that appear to hinder the smooth administration of authority and control in the schools at different levels and how the products of our educational system can affect the educational growth and the society at large. It discusses how authority and control can serve as instrument of value orientation in the control of the school system in Nigeria.It is hereby recommended that teachers should be well motivated in terms of salary and other allowances so as to enable them discharged their duties effectively.
